On the Ninth Day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me…Nine Ladies Dancing, eight maids milking, seven swans swimming, six geese laying, five golden rings. Four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree.
Naturally I couldn’t resist this artistic print showing a trio of witches dancing under a full moon…
Linda at Blue Dragonfly Crystal Creations makes the most fascinating one-of-a-kind Dream Dancers from deer antlers, deerskin, wire and crystals. I found it hard to pick a dancer from the several she has posted at her website, but finally chose this one:
Edgar Degas was a French artist famous for his paintings, sculptures, and other works of art – many of which featured dancers. A number of Etsy artists have created works based on or inspired by Degas…many being pieces of jewelry utilizing images of Degas’s own work; depicting paintings of ballet dancers. However, the artwork that most appeals to me is this fine art photograph from Serantoni Designs, titled “To Degas, with Love” – a beautiful photograph of a sculpture by Degas known as The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer. The original wax sculpture can now be seen at the National Gallery of Art, while bronze reproductions cast from the original can be found in various locations.
