On the Fifth Day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me…Five Golden Rings. Four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Naturally, when one first thinks of “five golden rings” what comes to mind are pieces of jewelry glittering from our hands. So keeping this in mind, my first offering is indeed some baubles for your fingers…but with a bit of a twist. As you may recall from one of my prior posts, I have a love for steampunk. Why have a simple plain gold band when you could have a gold steampunk watch ring instead?

“Rings” doesn’t necessarily have to mean jewelry…in fact, in the original song it is believed that it actually refers to the ring on the neck of a pheasant – this being predominately a feasting song. While I am not a big fan of pheasant, I think I will feast upon this offering from the kitchen of TheSwedishBaker. This delicious looking Swedish Tea Ring is made using an authentic Swedish recipe from the baker’s grandma.

Being a big lover of Nature (after all, I do practice an earth-based religion), my last thought about rings for this post was tree rings. So I found this eco-friendly wall decor consisting of a set of tree slices sanded, clear-coated and then hand-painted to create beautiful pieces of natural rustic artwork to be the sort of thing I wouldn’t mind displaying in my own little cottage.
