Is a good thing.
At other times, there is something to be said for sticking with the tried and true.
Yesterday I decided to experiment with some new themes here at the Crossroads. My enthusiasm for blogging has been lagging lately, and I thought perhaps a new makeover would perk me up and get me interested in posting again.
So I settled on a Spring-like theme called “Rounded” – with shades of brown, green, and blue… and flowers on the upper border. Unfortunately it didn’t have a header, nor offered the ability to create your own customized header… which I have been doing in the past.
But it was an interesting theme, and at the moment it appealed to me, so I clicked the “activate” button and downloaded it onto my blog.
And then immediately began to have second thoughts.
“Hmmm, I’m not all that sure I like this theme after all…”
But rather than switch back, I decided to leave it up and let my readership give me their opinions. After all, I can trust you to give it to me straight, right???
And you did.
While the vast majority of you did understand and support my desire to be creative, it was pretty clear that the new theme didn’t sit too well with most of you. Rather than reminding you of Spring, the colors – as Birch described it – came across a bit too “cartoonish.” I have to agree… the green especially came across a bit too… well, pukey.
After checking out a few other themes, I have come to the timeless conclusion:
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
So it’s back to the original, folks. A theme known as “MistyLook.”
And to be honest, I’m content to do so. I’ve come to realize that this theme really does suit me best. Yes, there are a few things I might tweak in the program if I could, but overall I like it.
And it seems you do too.
I’ll stick to showing off my creativity in customized headers, thankyouverymuch.
Now if I could just get a little creative in coming up with good blogging subjects…
Huh, now it is feeling very Buddhish, with a photo of Gandhi and white background ;o)
Oh, I missed this… Changing is always something good, even when it is to make us want to rechange. Thank gods we’re not kings or queens to keep only one word. I lke this background with Gandhi photo and his wise quote. I do hope you find the pleasure of blogging again, girl!
And thanks for your sweet comment on my Knight & Library post. Living in a big city doesn’t give us a chance to keep the unfortunately expensive habit of riding, but as often as possible we’ll try to give Lucas this joy, he really loved it!
And for the library, I’m very ecclectic on my reading too. If you could see the many different authors those shelves hold! I also go for the book and not the author. If the story attracts me, then I pay attention to the writer, except, of course, for my fav authors. One of my fav books ever is “The scred fifht thing”, by Starhawk, for its depth and beauty. We have many wonderul authors in Brazil as well that I wish were translated to English.
Wish you a great weekend, Ocean! Kisses from Nydia.
PS: loooooooved your herbs!
