Is it just me…
or does this picture make you wanna crack up?
Yes, folks… this duck is wearing a nappy on his backside.
These ducky diapers are the brainchild of a bird-loving couple who wanted a way to let their own feathered friends (a couple of cockatiels) out of their cage without getting doo-doo all over the place. So the wife designs a little “suit” that slips over the bird’s wings and fits under his bottom, with a pouch and a disposable diaper to collect up the mess.
Avian Pampers… now I’ve seen everything.
These “FlightSuits” – as they are called – are not reserved strictly for ducks. They are worn by parrots, cockatiels, doves, cockatoos, macaws, parakeets, etc.
Even quails, hens, and cardinals have been seen sporting disposables on their rumps…
Sorry, but around my house we don’t put diapers on the chickens… just a bit of flour, salt, and pepper.
As for that cardinal with the crap collector… it just so happens that the cardinal is my home state’s state bird. But somehow, I don’t think our state legislature dictated that they had to come with little “FlightSuits” attached. I’m having a difficult time trying to visualize the redbirds crowding around our bird feeder with rainbow-colored potty pants on.
Now don’t get me wrong…I’m not saying this is a bad idea. In fact, I think it’s pretty innovative! I’m sure that for the thousands of people who love their bird pals, these things eliminate a lot of cleaning headaches. I’ve had the pleasure of emailing with Wanda – one such bird lover and a major distributor of FlightSuits. Clearly “avian pampers” are a godsend to these folks and their feathered friends.
But nevertheless, I think I prefer to take my birds the way Mother Nature intended them – poop and all.

Thank you.
Hmmmm … well now if our feathered friends were able to change their own “Portable Potties”, I’m thinking it wouldn’t be such a bad idea for the flying “bombers” to wear them. Sure would eliminate the worry of being “bombed” as a flock flies over … ROFL
Thanks for making me smile. 🙂

You do have a good point there, MoonRose… especially if you park your car under a tree.
Hee Hee… I used to have canaries… birds are very messy, but I don’t believe I would have diapered them!
Sorry… but nobody is getting a FlightSuit on THIS bird.
Fun post, Osh.

(strolls away into the distance still laughing)….
I’m not sure which made me laugh more – the pictures themselves, or Ocean’s droll, witty, unique commentary on the subject.
I love your sense of humor, Osh.
Fantastic, another reasonable tactic for children to get what they want.
“No, birds are too messy!”
“But.. but they make diapers for them now”
*puppy eyes*
Mum can I have a bird x)
JK, Keely would probably eat it, tehe.. OH! Which reminds me.. I took some new pictures of her that I must send you.. like.. now x)
Quoting you, “Now I’ve seen everything…” LOL
Way too funny, people do find time to think of weird stuff!
I’d like to see their owners trying to catch them to change the diapers! Imagine that, the cardinals or the chickens flying away not to be caught and having another diaper on! hehehe
Great post, Ocean, the first laugh on a hard day.
*Bright blessings*
well now i have seen every thing ha ha ha ha personly i feed the birds outside. i get to see and enjoy many birds and no cage cleaning . ha ha ha ha that was a corker bb thanks for sharing
Ha, so bird is the word! I got a kick out of it when looking at the pictures!
I actually have a friend who owns a bird, a South African kind (not sure about the name) and believe it or not, it is housebroken. When being out of the cage for a while, the owner places a paper plate next to her since she knows it is time for the bird to go. And I am not kidding, it actually pooped in front of my eyes while vping with her! Amazing, heh?
Well…THAT certainly changes my mind about having a bird flying around loose in MY house!
LOL! But I would have done it with the parakeets I had growing up. I was tired of cleaning up poop everywhere in the house!
awwwwwwwwwww so cute
HA HA… I agree with everyone else above !!.. This article is too funny to be true.. I like Digi’s idea better; training the bird to go in a litter plate…
