Meet the newest members of the Crossroads family!
(I apologize for the poor quality of these pictures, they were taken with my SideKick 2 as I don’t own a digital camera at this time… hopefully more and better pictures will be taken soon with my friend’s camera)
This is Karma, a little black-and-white female… I think she’s going to grow up to be a pretty longhaired cat, but right now she’s more of a fuzzball!
This is her brother Gandalf, who is gray-and-white and has shorter hair…
They are around seven weeks old, and were adopted from a family who had stray female who had a litter of six kittens. Gandalf is bigger and more outgoing, and very loving… he likes to curl up on my lap while I’m watching TV. Karma is smaller and a bit more shy… she’s not as friendly and sometimes likes to go off and hide behind the furniture. I think she may have been the only female in the bunch (seems there were a lot of boys in that litter) and got bullied a bit by her bigger brothers. But she can hold her own… when she and Gandalf play-fight, she gives as good as she gets! She’s also not afraid to give him a growl or two when he tries to steal her food (I feed them out of separate dishes so they each get their own share).
I just got them yesterday and they are still settling in, but so far both are doing well. They add a lot of joy to my life, and they are so cute to watch. Of course, they are not so cute at two o’clock in the morning when they decide to use my bed as their playground and go chasing mommy’s toes! They are still little enough that they can’t do a lot of damage at this point, but they certainly do have a lot of energy… although they also take a lot of catnaps. I just hope as they get older and bigger they don’t go getting into stuff and breaking my pottery!
Here’s a few more pictures…
photographing energetic, curious kittens ain’t easy…
What a joy! Kittens are adorable, but very fast. The first time I saw mine running up the curtains, I knew I was in trouble. I finally got mine reasonably trained–I scoop the litter twice a day, make sure I turn on the water in the bathroom when I’m in there so they can drink, leave closet doors open a crack so they don’t get locked in, and don’t lower the blinds all the way so they can see out. Yep, I sure trained ’em early!
Ahhhhh… cute! I have three cats (two of them are old, past 15 years old and another is 2 years old…)
Yes, scoop the litter once or twice a day or the cats would poop outside of the box :o(.
oh how adorable; I am down to one cat; the others passed away from old age.. my one decided that it is so nice to play with mommies hair right after she got up in middle of night to go potty.. my cat actually acts like a dog, he LOVES people; someone comes to the house and wham he is right under their legs and wont leave them alone until they squat down and pet him..its very unusual but everyone complements me on my “child’s” good behavior!!!
Ocean, I am sure you will have many, many happy years with the two of them.. esp since they are siblings..Human
Ah, kitties, so fun…. I just returned home after a week of being gone, and even though my mom popped in to check on them, they decided since mommy was away, they would play. I’m still cleaning up their little messes of fur that seemed to have been pulled out in a fight, and things that they jumped up on and played with that are off limits if I’m around. I do love them, though! Hope you have much joy from the little ones.
Sweet!
Cute kitties! They’re definitely good company. 🙂
