Today I’m doing a little housecleaning in the Spirit Room, readying it for Litha – the Summer Solstice, which will soon be occurring on June 21st. As I vacuumed and dusted and rearranged and altered my altars yet again, my eyes fell upon the following framed poem, which was written especially for me a year ago by a Deaf friend. It gave me much comfort then, and it continues to do so today.
To My Friend Ocean
It may be illogical to you
But logical to me.
That is my thought process
Which is part of
The Art of Awakening
The definition of who we are.
Being a deaf person
Having cancer
Do not define who you are
They are not a part of who you are.
Those are error messages
What you have in your mind.
They are not part of who you are.
Such error messages
you conceived when you were a child.
You have to learn to confront those error messages
it is the only way!
The experiences you have
with the Sweat Lodge
with the Firewalking
being yourself
are the hints of who you are.
You do not need to be a minister.
The genuine self does not need it.
The genuine self does not demand it.
Only when you are fully present in your self
While knowing
You are Goddess in Dwelling Self.
Your authentic self reflects you.
Beautiful… similiar to what ACIM (A Course in Miracles) teaches (error messages.)
Thank you for sharing it with us readers.
“Your authentic self reflects you.”
Powerful words indeed.
Cool!!!!!! Thanks for sharing this!
Ohh very pretty. I especially love the frame work. Sounds like a dear friend, alright. One that knows you well.
Thank you…
Actually the frame is one that I did myself – I bought a cheap frame at Hobby Lobby and then decorated it with various shells from my collection. I have another frame that I decorated similarly…actually I have a couple of craft items that I have decorated with shells.
My friend merely wrote the poem and sent it to me via email, and then I typed it up in a pretty font, printed it out, and framed it to keep in the Spirit Room.
He is a good person, and I am thankful for his poem and his gift of friendship.
heartwarming; awesome poem…
I can really see the “dancer” in the tree too…. she is a beautiful woman; just like you..
Beautiful poem
