While I continue to struggle with my Writer’s Block (I’m working on it! Hopefully I’ll be recovered before too long!), I thought I would take this moment to post a few pictures of my altars.
Being that I have been a practicing Pagan for over twenty years, I have had a chance to accumulate a lot of different items – statuary, tools, pictures, shells, artwork, natural objects, etc. Many of these have made their way onto my altars.
Below are some pictures I’ve taken in the past of some of the altars in my home…yes, as you can see I’ve created several of them, reflecting various aspects of myself and my spiritual path. These altars are located on the second floor enclosed sun porch, which I have renamed The Spirit Room ~
(By the way, I apologize for the poor quality of these pictures…I don’t own a digital camera and these were actually taken using my SideKick II pager. Not the greatest, but better than nothing!)
With the recent winter storm keeping me inside, I decided to putter around the house doing a bit of cleaning, which resulted in my making a few changes both in The Spirit Room, and in my home office (where I spend much of my time on the computer).
One of my big pet peeves is the number of people who can’t seem to get the words right. A-L-T-A-R with two A’s is a noun, describing that sacred place where rituals and spiritual ceremonies might take place. A-L-T-E-R with an E is a verb, meaning to change, modify, or adjust. Remember this, folks…there will be a spelling test tomorrow.
Anyway, I made a couple of changes, modifications, adjustments…or alterations, you might say. I moved a few things into my office to display on my antique cabinet, where I keep many of my spiritual books. Below are some of those changes ~
Remember – an altar should reflect YOU and your own personal relationship with Spirit. I hope you have as much fun putting together your own altars as I have had with mine…
And get as much pleasure, comfort, and inspiration from them as mine have given to me.
